Betty Jean Durham

Betty Jean Durham was born November 23, 1936, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, to Clarence and Bessie Lilly Johnson. At an early age, she migrated to Jamaica, Queens, New York, where she built a life filled with love, independence, and unforgettable memories. Betty Jean departed this life on November 20, 2024, just three days shy of her 88th birthday. 

Betty Jean is survived by her daughter, Darlene Romain; her three grandchildren, Lonnie Richard Durham (deceased), Andre Franklin Durham, and Daniel Ray Connors; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Braylon Connors; two beloved aunts, Aretha Lilly and Dorothy Lilly; her devoted niece, Denise Hill, daughter of Susie Gillard (her sister who predeceased her); three special cousins, Linda Jackson, Arthur Lilly Jr., and Sherita Walton; her caring health aides, Ivy and Abby; and a host of family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Funeral service will be Monday, December 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at J. Foster Phillips Funeral Home, Inc. 179-24 Linden Blvd. • Jamaica, NY 11434
