Ella Haywood Obituary

Mrs. Ella Mae Haywood of Fayetteville, NC died peacefully in her Fayetteville home Friday evening November 13,2020 with her family at her bedside. 

Ella Mae Haywood was born on May 27, 1941 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Bill and Lucille (Sims)Elkins. She went to Gomer Elementary and high school.  After graduation, she went to New York to nursing school. Later she married, Paul Haywood Jr. of forty seven plus years. To the union one child was born, Paul Haywood III. After return to Fayetteville she worked at the Cape Fear Valley Hospital for Thirty-six plus years. Ella  received several awards. In 2002, she received "THE BEST NURSE AWARD”. She joined St. Luke AME Church in 1976. Ella was involved with the trustees and stewardess board. Ella is preceded in death by her mother, father, one sister and a brother. She is survived by one son Paul Haywood III of Fayetteville NC, two sisters Betty (Adam) Dawkins of Newberry, South Carolina. Ollie Young of Las Vegas, two grandchildren, Corey Payne of Georgia, Sarah Schanagel of Germany and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
