Ms. Evelyn Thompson Monds of Fayetteville Street Dunn, departed this life on January 6, 2023(Old Christmas)at her home with her family at bedside. Evelyn Thompson Monds, 84, was born in Dunn, North Carolina to the late Grady “Bo” Thompson and Cleo George. Evelyn graduated from Harnett County Training School in 1955. Evelyn was previously employed with The Candy Kitchen, and Bonders Sewing factory. She worked at Morganite for over 28 years of service, where she retired. She joined St. Stephens Disciple of Christ Church where she became a member under the leadership of Dr. Alex Cox. She loved her furry little Chihuahua’s and in her spare time she enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and she had a green thumb. She loved her family, friends and knew everything going on around her, without leaving Fayetteville St. We will cherish the conversations, and her heartfelt advice she always had to give. Evelyn is preceded in death by a son Brandon Monds, brothers, Jerry Thompson, Grady Thompson & Gradie Thompson, Isaiah Thompson, Robert Lee Thompson, and William Thompson. One sister Rosa Lee Hodges. She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters; Phyllis Stack (Charlie), and Malinda (Renee) Monds of Dunn, N.C. and Sons; Alvin Monds (Tammy), Gregory Monds (Bendora), Leslie Surles (Becky) and Michael Monds all of Dunn, N.C.; one Brother, Johnny Lee Thompson (Linda) of Spring Lake, N.C.; 17 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Isaiah 40:29. "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday January 11, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 6pm. at Family Funeral Home Dunn, NC. There will be a viewing 12:00pm to 1pm Thursday January 12 followed by funeral service and committal at St Stephen Disciples Church Dunn, North Carolina.
