John Wesley Butler

  John Wesley Butler of Dunn, North Carolina died at Betsy Johnson Hospital NC, Monday morning December 5,2022. John was born in Sylvania Georgia to Willie Butler and Katie Williamson Butler. He attendant Scriven County public schools. Later he enlisted the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He reenlisted in The United Sates Army Reserve and was honorably discharge. John worked as a Warehouse Manager at Olmstead Airforce base. He was transferred to New Cumberland Army Depot where he worked for many years until his retirement. John met Kay Thompson in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They both relocated to Dunn, North Carlina and united in matrimony in 1986.  John Loved gardening, baseball, and watching his daughter play high school and college basketball. He was a great conversationist and loved talking with people. John was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Katie Butler, two brothers Henry Butler and Isiah Butler, one sister Louise Posey, one son Ronald Butler and Cheryl Butler- Weedon daughter. Left to Cherish his memories are his wife Kay Butler of Dunn, NC, three sons Wallace L Butler (Cecelia) of Harrisburg, PA, John W Butler Jr. of Philadelphia PA, Rodney Thompson of Dunn, NC, two daughters Angela Y Brooks (Frederick) of Harrisburg PA, Randi Brown of Harrisburg PA, 19 grandchildren,24great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. and a host of nephews, nieces and friends. The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation of the Promedica Hospice Team, and all of John’s care takers.
