Obituary

Johnnie Paul Signal, son of the late Maude Signal and Elijah Signal, was born on July 11th, 1938 in Dunn, North Carolina. He departed this life peacefully in his home on Sunday, October 31st, 2021.He received his education in Harnett County Schools.  At the age of 17, Johnnie moved to New York and became a truck driver. While in New York, a few years later he met his lifelong partner Mrs. Jessie M. McNeil. They were joined in holy matrimony in North Carolina, and they lived in Newark, New Jersey for 50+years.Johnnie worked for Art Ed Carriers for about fifty years, after he retired, he was asked to continue to work part time because he knew more about the company than anyone else. Later Johnnie and Jessie returned back to North Carolina to live. Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, Maude and Elijah Signal, sisters Bertha Carroll, Odel Signal, Gertrude McNeill, and brothers Percy, Lincy, Wilbert, Elisha, Obbie, George, Rufus, and Walter Signal. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jessie M. Signal of the home, one daughter Sylvia Hinman, one grandson James Hinman, both of New York, sister-in-law Georgie Signal of Dunn, brother in law Richard McNeill of Godwin, god-daughter Jacqueline Brown, a special friend Odel, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
