Ronald Spears Williams died peacefully in his Benson, North Carolina home,Sunday afternoon on November 11, 2018. Ronald Spears Williams was born July 25, 1949, in Kingston, Tennessee. He was orphaned as an infant and raised by his grandmother. Ronald dropped out of school in the 8th grade to help the family farm then joined the United States Air Force on December 21, 1973. Sgt. Williams served in Vietnam before being honorably discharged December 14, 1981. He earned the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with one oak leaf cluster, an Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.Ronald went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 11, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Betty R. Williams of Benson, NC; three daughters, Teisha L.C. Strelow (David) of Sidney, OH; Jannie L. Collett of Coats, NC; and Melissa A. Workman (Ray) of Smithfield, NC; ten grandchildren, Mitchell, Amber, and Sean of Smithfield, NC; Thomas and Michaela of Sidney, OH; Timothy of Louisville, KY and Briley of Coats, NC; Michael, Hunter, and Bradley of Lebanon Junction, KY; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandmother of Kingston, TN: parents, John and Odell Williams of Kingston, TN; his son, Dwayne K. Collett (Mary) of Lebanon Junction, KY; and his grandson, Matthew Workman of Smithfield, NC. A family gathering in his honor will at Family Funeral Home , Dunn NC. on Friday November 16, 2018 from 3pm until 6pm.
