Walter Raleigh Holley

Mr. Walter Raleigh Holley, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, NC, with family by his side. Mr. Holley was born on December 5, 1943, in Chowan County, NC, to the late Raleigh Lee Holley and Harriet Williams. Walter lived in Edenton, NC until June 2018 and then moved to Lillington, NC for health/medical reasons. He is preceded in death by his wife, Pattie Halsey Holley; two sisters – Lauretta Holley and Shirley Ruth Holley; one brother – James Lee Holley; and one sister-in-law – Beatrice Halsey Telford. He is survived by: two daughters – Classie Ann Johnson (Bill) of Raleigh, NC and Vanessa Holley Carter (Darin) of Erwin, NC; four grandchildren - Timothy Eugene Johnson, Jr. of Erwin, NC, Thomasina Nicole Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Christian Lamar Johnson of Raleigh, NC, and Tiffanie Willette Jones of Greenville, NC; one great grandchild – Tariq Agnew of Raleigh, NC; two sisters – Marie Holley White of Edenton, NC and Pauline Holley Wilson of Hobbsville, NC; one brother – Theodore Roosevelt Holley (Edessa) of Edenton, NC; two brothers-in-law – David Telford of Anderson, SC and Daniel Andrew Halsey, Jr. (Janet) of Dacula, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Special thanks to: niece - Annette Montgomery (Annanias) of Raleigh, NC, niece - Darlene Fennell of Upper Marlborough, MD, nephew – Carl Telford (Diane) of Anderson, SC and cousin - Karl Lynn Halsey, Sr. (Kim) of Enfield, NC, who visited, called, prayed for, and showed love and support to Walter throughout the years and especially during his greatest time of need. A private celebration of life gathering for his family and loved ones will be held at a later time.
